Join The FAB: YEA Camp’s Fellowship + Advisory Board!
Hey hey YEA Campers!
We are starting up a new round of our FAB, the YEA Camp Fellowship + Advisory Board, and would love for you to join! Any past YEA Camper under 18 is eligible. (If you're over 18 and interested in joining, message Nora at nora@yeacamp.org and we will work something out!)
The FAB will be advising us as we develop future YEA programs as well as working on some really important and fun projects to help us make our curriculum available to way more people through different online platforms.
Details:
- This session of the FAB will be a 10-week program held from the weekend of February 26 - April 30, 2022, with the option to continue on afterwards.
- The time commitment is 2 hours a week (or more if you have time) for 10 weeks. We will meet 1 hour per week to work together, and the other hour would be on your own time (asynchronous), whatever time works for you. You'll have an option to do that one hour together coworking after our weekly session.
- We'll meet over Zoom for 1 hour a week on a weekend (day and time to be finalized with everyone). During that call, we'll get to know each other, play a fun game or two, ask your advice on how we can change the world a little bit more, talk about the projects we're each working on, and cowork or collaborate on projects together.
- You will work on a project of your choice. Take a look below at the teams you can join and some of the projects you could work on, and if you have a project you're excited about that you don't see listed, we'd love to hear it!
TEAMS to choose from on the FAB with examples of projects you could work on for that team:
- Curriculum - Help create YEA mini courses and resource guide to help people do more activism
- Writing - Write for our blog and help edit our ebook, The Beginner's Guide to Changing the World
- Social Media - plan, create, or organize content for any platforms that you use (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Youtube, Twitter, etc)
- Graphic Design - Using Canva, create images to go with blog posts and curriculum
- Community Engagement - reach out to past campers to help with their activism, interview campers and staff doing a lot of activism so we can share their stories
- Cookbook - Follow recipes and compile photos for our cookbook!
- Other: you let us know what you'd like to work on!
- You'll learn a lot about activism
- Collaborate with like-minded new and old friends and staff from YEA Camp in a supportive environment
- We'll have fun and do cool activities each week
- Flexible time commitment
- Flexibility to work on a project you're excited about (focusing on a particular issue you care about or getting experience with something you enjoy or want to try out, like blogging, graphic design, or making videos)
- Experience that can help you in future activism you do or even in a lot of jobs
- Something impressive to put on your college applications or resume (leadership experience as well as content you can share and possible topic to discuss in a college essay)
- Half-off tuition to Virtual YEA Camp and $250 off tuition for in-person YEA Camp if you complete the program in good standing (if you follow through on the full time commitment)
We're keeping it really simple if you want to join.
To join, just fill out this simple form to sign up! It will just take a few minutes. The deadline to sign up is Monday February 14. (Will you be our Valentine?!)
Thinking about joining but not sure if you'll like it? Check out what FAB members from last year had to say about their experience!
"The FAB gave me a direction to go with my activism and gave me a project to work on. It was amazing to spend time with people who care about making the world a better place. The FAB made me feel like I could actually do something to help the world, and I really appreciate the experience." -Ruby
"The FAB reminded me of how fun YEA Camp was. While some people have negative thoughts about activism, with YEA Camp it is actually quite fun and you can accomplish a lot. The FAB allowed me to reconnect and work with amazing people. It was such a wonderful experience." -Justin
And if you have any questions or concerns, just message Nora over email or Slack.
Can't wait to hopefully work with you on the FAB these next couple of months!
