YEA Camp

A week-long summer camp for adults who want to make tangible, lasting, contagious change in this world

You may or may not (YET) think of yourself as a "world changer", and you might not use the word "activist" to describe yourself.

BUT, one thing is for darn sure: you give a hoot about the future of this planet. And you know that, if we don't make some BIG changes, that we are dancing precariously on the edge of new and bigger disasters than we want to imagine.

You're ready and willing to take action. (Thank you!) And, if you're already taking action, you want to scale it, inspire others, and keep from burning out.

We'll spend a week away from our usual day-to-day responsibilities, recharge our batteries, and focus in on how we can truly make this world a better place. Together, we've got this!

*BTW, we pronounce "YEA" to rhyme with "hey"!

YEA Camp is a summer camp for social change.

For nearly a decade, we've been helping teens from all over the world to make a difference on a cause they care about -- all while having one of the best experiences of their life.
The more than 600 individuals who have come to YEA Camp commonly describe it as one of the best experiences of their life. They go on to do amazing, inspiring things to make a difference.

After many years of requests, YEA Camp is finally offering its first camp for adults!

You'll leave YEA Camp with new skills, an action plan to make an impact on issues you care about, self-confidence through the roof, and an awesome community of new friends, colleagues, and mentors to root you on for years to come!
*BTW, we pronounce "YEA" to rhyme with "hey"!

We hear the phrase so often: "Change the world!" But let's be direct about this, our world can be downright scary. Something needs to be changed, yesterday. Seriously.

Maybe you don't even want to watch the news because it's so depressing, but you don't want to bury your head in the sand, either! So you already know about the completely senseless and tragic shootings. Every.Single.Day. And you know about GMOs and the revolting factory farming industry. You know that our beautiful earth is crumbling.

We don't have time to dive into all the muck, and we'd be preachin' to the choir anyways. That's why you're here on this page!

We do have just enough time for hope. And that's not intended to be corny! YEA Camp is here because we believe that we truly can change the world with the right tools and support. And we need you to do it.

Why summer camp for adults? Of course, we could attend retreats, conferences, or networking events. But this is different. You'll walk away from this truly life-changing week, prepared and inspired to make a big difference.

What could happen in just one week together? What if you could go home ready to take strategic action? What if you could go from wanting to make a difference,
to being inspired and prepared for action?

YEA Camp will show you how.

Think of this like going to a retreat, a networking event, AND a hard-core but almost awkwardly fun training. All at the same time. You'll go home inspired, recharged, part of our supportive community, AND with a solid plan in hands!

Ocean Robbins“YEA Camp... is not only one of the most fun events ever created – it just might shift the course of history. The more people who participate in YEA Camp, the more hope we will have for our future.”

-Ocean Robbins, Founder, Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES!), and CEO, The Food Revolution

I’m not sure what I’d do if there weren’t people like you guys to support people like me and to restore my faith in humanity. Thanks so much — this week is one of the most valuable in my life.”

-Jasmine, camper from Connecticut

You may have already done a lot to fix a problem you see, or maybe you're not even sure where to begin. Which is where we come in: you WILL know your next steps when you leave YEA Camp!

Truly, the details can vary. We welcome adults of all colors, genders, incomes, nationalities, religious beliefs, experience levels, diets, ETC.

You might choose a vegetarian or vegan diet, due to your desire not to harm animals. No matter the color of your skin, you surely agree that "Black Lives Matter". You're not OK with ageism, sexism, or any other -ism that requires a human or species to be treated as less than you! You may still be recovering from the 2016 presidential election.

The ONE thing that all YEA Campers have in common? A can't-be-missed desire to make the world a better place.

Note: Our adult YEA Camp is for those who are 18 and over (no exceptions).

Gene Baur“I love being able to recommend YEA Camp for [those] who feel the call to change the world, be of service, and create a better life for all of Earth’s inhabitants. At Farm Sanctuary, we have long observed the powerful change that occurs when caring people join together and explore pathways to turn their compassion into action, and I’m thrilled this program exists to support [people] in doing just that.”

-Gene Baur, President and Co-Founder of Farm Sanctuary

Dates: July 1-7, 2018

Check in is at 4pm on Sunday, July 1, and check out is at 11am on Saturday, July 7.
Note: We've strategically planned the dates for this, knowing that many offices will have a holiday in the middle of the week on July 4th + to make sure you have extra time for travel time as well.

Location: Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in High Falls, NY

We'll be on site at a well-known sanctuary that has been rescuing animals since 2004. We'll have the opportunity to spend time with these animals and in nature.
Located about 90 minutes from New York City, High Falls is home to rolling hills and the peaceful space we'll share for the week.

Bianca“YEA was amazing... I know I’ve said it over and over again, but this camp has truly changed my life. You have inspired me to do so much with my life and to make the world a truly better place... Because of you, I have been able to actually make a difference, even within only a few months.”

-Bianca, Camper from California

Eat delicious, nutritious, fresh foods reminiscent of your childhood days at camp. That is, if you were lucky enough to go to camp. If not, we'll make up for lost time! You'll find favorites like strawberry French toast, tacos, nori rolls, pancakes (mmm), and freshly baked vegan pizza.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and even dessert are included in your tuition for the entire duration of camp. Huzzah!
We offer a vegan menu at YEA Camp as part of our commitment to activism. Whether or not you're accustomed to eating vegan foods, prepare to enjoy meal time! (seriously, our food rocks!)
If you'd like more info about specific meals, click HERE. Just keep in mind that we're offering a bit more in the way of healthy options for the adult camp than we do at the teen camp. For those of you who filled surveys, we've heard you loud and clear and are keeping wellness a top priority!

"The food was delicious, and I’m not even vegan!”

-Elaina, teen camper from Oregon

Hillary Rettig“YEA Camp is unique in its ability to nurture [people] with an activist or community vision and help them prepare for lives of purpose, effectiveness, and joy.”

-Hillary Rettig, author of "The Lifelong Activist"

Q: “Can I room with someone I know from home?”

A: We thought you might ask that.

Well, here’s the thing. You *could,* but we don’t recommend it. We’ve found that campers who come with a friend from home usually want to spend a lot of time with that friend - at meals, in activities, in the cabin. We get it, your friend is awesome! But if you’re doing that you don’t make as much effort to make new friends. Other people might be less likely to approach you too, if you’re always with your besty from home. This is a chance of a lifetime to make new activist-minded friends, and we don’t want you to miss it. So we will say yes if you insist but we really don’t recommend it.

Q: Can we get up earlier to shower or exercise -- or sleep in later?

We typically have 2 wake-up times, one at 7 or 7:15 for early risers who want to shower or exercise or just get up early, and one at 8 for those who don't want to drag themselves out of bed til the last minute. (We understand.)

Usually a staff member will offer an optional early morning activity, like running or yoga for those who want it.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: We’ll send you our packing list that’s in our welcome packet once you register, and that will have all the details!

“My experience at YEA Camp is indescribable. I am so happy I came. I am inspired to go out and make my views heard. I gained tons of confidence, filled my toolbox with awesome skills, and learned how to be effective in telling people what I believe. There is a place for everyone at YEA, and there is so much to learn. You don’t have to be an activist already to come, either.”
