Who We Are

Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp is a not-for-profit run by a dedicated team of experienced activists, credentialed teachers, and leaders committed to a world in which people, animals, and the planet are treated with respect, and where everyone is empowered to take action to bring about the change they wish to see in the world.

Our team is knowledgeable about and experienced working on many pressing issues, such as climate change, animal rights, gay rights, anti-racism, human rights, environmental justice, corporate influence, and more, meaning we can provide significant insight and experience to help campers connect with effective organizations and take needed action to bring about change. YEA Camp’s staff has a diversity of activism experience, such as working on advocacy campaigns, doing grassroots outreach, helping to pass laws and elect progressive candidates, doing arts activism, using social media to bring about change, campaign planning and implementation, and more.

Our leadership team has their teaching credentials, has taught and created curriculum for high schools, middle schools, other summer camps, after-school programs, school clubs, and more. They have training through various community and education organizations to create a powerful, inspiring, well-developed curriculum that encourages critical thinking, thoughtful participation, community building, and committed action.

We recognize that youth have incredible power to make a difference in their communities and our society as a whole, and we work hard to support them in any way we can.

The safety of our participants is our top priority, and we take our in loco parentis responsibility very seriously. Our dedicated staff has a proven track record of working successfully with youth, and every staff member is thoroughly vetted, including a full criminal background check. YEA has fiscal sponsorship as a 501(c)3 non-profit through the Earth Island Institute.
